Accreditation – a mark of recognition across the profession – is based on both qualifications and practical tax experience. Tax professionals have a choice of three categories to reflect their professional stature and two specialisations to highlight their area(s) of expertise.
To be eligible for admission and/ or an upgrade to an Accredited Tax Advisor, Accredited Tax Practitioner or Accredited Tax Practitioner (Provisional), the corresponding requirements are as follows:
Accredited Tax Advisor (ATA)
Accredited Tax Practitioner (ATP)
Accredited Tax Practitioner (Provisional) (PTP)
Relevant approved practical experience would include income tax or GST experience, or both as the case may be gained in academia, commerce, industry, public practice and the public sector. The years of experience may be concurrent.
Tax professionals who hold memberships in relevant organisations and/or have passed relevant examinations and/or have acquired relevant approved practical experience may apply for admission as an Accredited Tax Advisor, Accredited Tax Practitioner or an Accredited Tax Practitioner (Provisional).
All applications subject to the Board's approval. The Board's decision is final.
