On 27 August 2009, Mr Lee Yi Shyan, then Minister of State for Trade and Industry and Manpower, announced that the Institute of Singapore Chartered Accountants, in collaboration with the Tax Academy of Singapore, will set up an accreditation body for local tax professionals.
Set to raise standards of tax practice, advance the value of tax and overall contribute to the national vision of Singapore being the leading global financial and business hub in Asia, the professional tax body was incorporated in January 2010. In May that year, the Singapore Institute of Accredited Tax Professionals (SIATP) was officially launched.
To date, accredited tax professionals hail from a wide spectrum of Singapore’s economy. Whether the accredited is a tax accountant in practice, a tax lawyer, a tax professional in commence, an academic or a professional applying tax knowledge in the public sector, he is supported by an array of privileges and benefits the tax accreditation offers. These equip him to stand out in the profession with greater tax competency coupled with peer and industry recognition.
The accredited continues to stand out as the preferred one.
